Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of continuous concrete borders over other edging solutions?

  1. Compared to wood or timber installation, there is no threat of termites or rotting. Keep in mind that now many homeowners’ associations are banning wood installations because of these problems.
  2. Compared to metal edging you simply don’t have the rusting, separation and above ground heaving. All these lead to long-term maintenance costs not found with Curbmaster™ brand concrete edging.
  3. Compared to plastic edging, you also don’t have the separation and above ground heaving. In addition, you don’t have the stigma and cheap look associated with a plastic product.
  4. Finally, compared to brick and stone installations, you don’t have the crumbling and cracking and, in most cases, Curbmaster brand concrete edging is less expensive than other masonry alternatives.

What makes Curbmaster™ brand concrete edging so special?

We take pride in our Curbmaster™ brand concrete edging. Through our nearly 20 years in business we have developed a proprietary and industry leading formulation of concrete materials for strength, durability and beauty. The sand we use is special with a high angular component to resist hairline cracks. The cement mix is a special non-clumping mix that protects against any possible weak spots in the installation. And we add just the right amount of fiber mesh to reinforce the concrete in much the same way roadways and bridges are reinforced with steel girders. All this costs us a little more, yes, but we have found that it is worth it to provide our customers with a superior, lasting product for their homes.

What do you mean by a “no hassle” quote?

We know what it is like to get quotes for services at your home. Many companies give you a dreaded “window of time” and you sit around and waste a day. We don’t do this! We will do everything possible to make the quote (and installation) convenient for you. After answering a few simple questions, and reviewing your installation, in most cases you do not even have to be home during the quoting process, unless of course you want to, and then we will work to accommodate your schedule.

You mention colors to complement my home, but I don’t see the color selection on the website?

Yes, we know. But don’t worry; there is a wide range of colors available from subtle tans and grays, to bold red and oranges, to deep greens and blues. Unfortunately, the variation in computer displays make online display and color matching sketchy at best. We want you to be satisfied and not surprised, so we have found the best way to select the color is with a color chart during the quoting process.

How long will the installation take?

Most installations are completed in less than one day.

Do I have to be there during the installation?

We ask you to be there at the very beginning during the time we mark the outline of the installation. Once we get approval for the outline, in most cases you can feel free to leave to attend to other business and get on with your day. Of course, if you would like to stay for the duration of the installation, this if fine also.

Will the installation ruin my lawn or landscape?

This is the beauty of Curbmaster™ continuous concrete edging. It doesn’t involve the use of large excavating equipment or the building of forms before pouring the concrete. The machines used are lightweight and use pneumatic tires. The only affect on your lawn is that there is a swath of turf removed that is about one foot wide (see installation page) in which the curb edging is installed. This turf can be reused in bare spots in your lawn, or we will remove and dispose of it for a small fee. After the installation is complete, any slight spillover along the outside edge of the curb edging is removed leaving a “clean” installation that you will be proud of.

What will this cost me?

Installations range between $5 and $7 a foot depending on the style, color and size selection. For the life of the product, this is on par with metal edging, yet is much more aesthetically pleasing and can add to your home value and its resale potential making Curbmaster™ product much more of an investment than a maintenance item like other edging products.
